Project Context

Located within the UNESCO-listed Banc d’Arguin National Park in Mauritania, Iwik possesses exceptional natural and cultural assets but remains largely untapped as a tourism destination. Nogal Studios was commissioned to develop a comprehensive feasibility study to assess the potential for a sustainable ecotourism model capable of generating economic opportunities for local communities while preserving the area's unique environmental heritage.

01. OUR APPROACH

We conducted a multi-phase feasibility study combining field research, stakeholder consultations, market analysis, destination benchmarking and strategic planning. The project examined international ecotourism trends, visitor demand, competitive destinations, operational requirements, marketing strategies, sustainability standards, product development and financial viability.

The study established the foundations for a tourism model capable of creating local employment while protecting the unique ecosystems of the Banc d’Arguin National Park.
